Flossie Pops Cakery is owned by Ketta Shimmin and located in the beautiful Weald of Kent.

Besides owning and running Flossie Pops Cakery from my kitchen and studio at home, I’m also a mother of three young daughters, a wife, a spaniel owner, a wine enthusiast (ok, enthusiastic wine drinker), keen cook and runner.

My strange and varied career includes a spell as a magician’s assistant, waiting tables and some restaurant management, followed by, in a bid to become a bit more grown up, office manager at an e-commerce solutions company and then into Advertising. When we decided to move out of London to the Kent countryside in 2004, I completed a postgraduate marketing qualification before helping my husband set up his own PR consultancy from the cowshed in the garden.

Flossie Pops Cakery was born in July 2012. I discovered a passion for cake design whilst making birthday cakes for my children – I’ll never forget the pride I felt after many hours, several gin & tonics and the most incredible mess in the kitchen – when I produced a two-tier, wonky, fairytale castle, complete with moat and dumpy little prince and princess figures. My lovely NCT friend who saw my enthusiasm and passion develop over years of our kids birthdays, asked me to bake her wedding cake and the rest is history.

Fully insured and registered with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council Environmental Health, the Flossie Pops kitchen was rated 5 stars for food hygiene (the highest attainable rating). I also hold a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering certificate.
